Cheshire Retirement Livery has been caring for horses for over 20 years and has become one of the UK's leading equine centres. Set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside with lots of natural grazing land Cheshire Retirement Livery is a beautiful place for your horse to call home. Our staff are experts in care for horses including horses with conditions relating to ageing. All horses are checked on a regular basis. They receive the highest quality care and attention and we have a range of plans to suit you and your horses needs.
Cheshire Retirement Livery is set in over 120 acres of quality grazing and we also farm an additional 70 acres enabling us to produce our own top quality haylage. We operate a well managed pasture programme where the fields are harrowed, seeded and rolled yearly.
Excellent Care for Older Horses
Our staff are proficient in caring for horses with conditions relating to the older equine including Cushings, Metabolic Syndrome and Laminitis. We are accustomed to caring for horses with signs of ageing such as arthritis and often find that horses that have been stabled due to constraints on their turn out make sufficient improvement to no longer need their medications. Owners often say they have never seen their horse look so good.
Updates from the yard
When you take out a care plan for your horse we ensure that you receive updates and photographs and of course you are welcome to visit any time. We do not operate an appointment system and we are also happy to have your horse brought in for you when you visit if required.
Our staff are horse owners and are experts in horse care. Cheshire Retirement Livery has been caring for horses for over 20 years. We are supported by our vets at Ashbrooke Equine Hospital, weekly visits from our farrier and our independent equine nutritionist to help ensure optimum health for our horses.
Our winter barns provide as natural a lifestyle possible for your horse having the freedom to interact and have freedom of movement. The barns are cleaned out fully regularly and refreshed with golden barley straw on a regular basis.
Regular Check ins
Our knowledgeable staff check the horses daily, observing and monitoring the condition of the horses in their care. All horses have a recorded care plan with details of all medical care, feeding regime, dental, farrier and worming information which is available to owners at all times.
We have paddocks of quality grazing with suitable companions or smaller paddocks available with company for restricted grazing according to requirements. We also have laminitic sand paddocks for zero grazing. All paddocks are regularly attended to ensuring the highest quality grazing.
A Range of Plans
We have a range of plans available to horse owners but all include expert care, regular updates, feet picking and rug changes. Our plans include different options for your horse be it grass livery with access to a shared bedded barn, nightly stabling or our platinum plan which includes a yearly full health check up. We can also offer short term grass livery, holiday packages and rehabilitation options during summer months.
We place horses in herds that best suit their needs. Horses are grouped according to gender, size and grazing requirements. We'll discuss the best option for your horse with you when you join and monitor progress accordingly.
Safety is of great importance to us and all fields are maintained to a high level with all paddocks fenced with stock fence and/or high quality electric tape. The yard owners and some members of staff live on site to provide 24/7 supervision.
